Karen and Paul were high school students in a relationship that resulted in an unplanned pregnancy. Karen was born with a congenital heart condition and was told she should never have a child. The odds were that she could die at childbirth and that the baby would be born with the same genetic traits.

Karen's mother was very scared for her daughter. The doctors recommended abortion as the only solution. We can't even imagine the pain of her mother trying to protect her young daughter. Paul and Karen wanted their baby and Paul remembered Heartbeat of Miami. He had heard about our ministry from his grandparents who are monthly partners of our ministry.

Paul and Karen came to our Hialeah Clinic for counseling. Karen was now 6 weeks pregnant and yes they were scared, but they both were so sure that they wanted their baby to live. As I sat with them my heart melted at the sight of these two teenagers wanting to protect the tiny life inside the womb. When we saw the ultrasound, the loudest heartbeat filled the room. How could this little heart be silenced forever? If God allowed this baby to be conceived, He will be the one to take its life. Without any fear Karen said "I'm having my baby. God will help me through this." Paul said, "I want to marry you and together we will face it." I could not contain my tears as I watched this young man step up to the plate and bat a HOME RUN! After pre-marital counseling this beautiful couple was married before God on August 30, 2009.

Well, Karen and Paul went "Against all Odds" and WON! Brandyn Andrew was born full term and by natural birth on March 2, 2010, weighing 7lbs 2 ounces and measured 20 inches. Karen was able to fulfill God's plan and purpose and her child did not inherit any heart condition. The family was praising God for His great mercy of allowing Karen to conceive and give birth when the doctors told her it was impossible due to her heart condition. This family also thanks Heartbeat of Miami for being there to encourage and counsel them through this crisis. Our God is an AWESOME GOD!

Queridos Amigos,

¿Han pensado alguna vez lo que realmente significa "contra todas las probabilidades?" Para algunos esto puede significar algo que nunca hubiese sucedido según las probabilidades. Para otros puede significar éxito a pesar de la fuerte adversidad. Con esto en mente, mi historia este mes se llama "contra todas las probabilidades."

Karen y Paul eran estudiantes de secundaria en una relación que dio lugar a un embarazo no planificado. Karen nació con una condición cardíaca congénita y se le dijo que ella nunca debía tener un hijo. Las probabilidades eran que ella podría morir durante el parto y que el bebé podría nacer con los mismos rasgos genéticos. La madre de Karen temía por la vida de su hija. Los médicos recomendaron el aborto como la única solución. Pónganse en el lugar de esa madre, tratando de proteger a su hija menor. Paul y Karen no querían abortar a su bebé y Paul se acordó de las Clínicas de Embarazo de Heartbeat de Miami. Había escuchado acerca de nuestros servicios a través de sus abuelos que son fieles contribuidores de nuestro Ministerio.

Paul y Karen llegaron a nuestra Clínica de Hialeah buscando ayuda y consejería. Sin duda, Karen tenía 6 semanas de embarazo. Sí, estaban asustados, pero ambos estaban seguros que querían que su bebé viviera. Sentada junto a ellos, mi corazón se compadeció con ternura al ver a estos dos jovencitos deseando proteger la vida inocente dentro del vientre de Karen. Cuando vimos el ultrasonido, el latido fuerte de un corazoncito llenaba el cuarto. ¿Cómo acabar con el latir de este corazoncito para siempre? Si Dios permitió que este bebé fuese concebido, El es el único que puede terminar con esa vida. Sin ningún temor, Karen dijo "Voy a tener a mi bebé. Dios me ayudará a sobrepasar esto." Paul dijo, "Quiero que nos casemos y juntos nos enfrentaremos a todo." Yo no podía contener mis lágrimas, al ver la valentía de este jovencito ir a la caja de bateo y batear un "HOME RUN." Después de consejería pre-matrimonial, esta linda pareja se casó en la presencia de Dios el 30 de agosto de 2009.

Pues bien, Karen y Paul fueron "Contra Todas las Probabilidades" y ¡ganaron! Brandyn Andrew nació saludable a término completo y por parto natural el 2 de marzo del 2010, pesando 7lbs y 2 oz con 20". Karen fue capaz de cumplir el plan y propósito perfecto de Dios y su hijo no heredo ninguna condición de corazón. La familia le da gloria a Dios por su gran misericordia de permitir que Karen diera a luz cuando los médicos le dijeron que era imposible debido a su condición de corazón. Hoy en día, esta familia también agradece a Heartbeat of Miami por estar presente para darle esperanza y apoyo a través de la crisis que ellos enfrentaban. ¡Nuestro Dios es un Dios grandioso!
